PAFN shuts down 12 eateries in Mubarakiya

Serious breaches of food safety and hygiene regulations uncovered

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition conducted an extensive inspection campaign in the Mubarakiya area of the Capital Governorate, led by Director of the Capital Governorate Inspection Department, Ali Al-Kandari.

The campaign resulted in the issuance of 30 violation reports and the closure of 12 food establishments for committing serious breaches of food safety and hygiene regulations.

The inspection revealed a wide range of violations, including the sale of adulterated food products, thawing frozen meat and selling it as fresh, and handling food without meeting required health and technical standards.

Additional infractions included poor hygiene practices during operations, opening food businesses without health licenses, using unauthorized transportation for food distribution, and employing workers without valid health certificates.

Inspectors also documented instances of workers residing in food establishments, and the use of spaces beyond the licensed area limits. Notably, 100 kilograms of thawed mutton intended to be sold as fresh were confiscated, along with beef liver that lacked proper labeling or indication of origin.
