PAFN raids four trucks at dawn today; 10 tons of spoiled fish, shrimp seized and destroyed

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition today seized and destroyed 10 tons of fish and shrimp unfit for human consumption.
The Al-Rai daily said the shrimps and fish were intercepted before reaching the Sharq fish market. The spoiled seafood was discovered during a surprise early morning inspection, and those responsible were referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
According to Ali Al-Kandari, Director of the Capital Governorate Inspection Department, said the raid targeted fish transport vehicles near the market.
Inspectors seized the entire shipment from four refrigerated trucks, which were found to be carrying spoiled seafood not suitable for human consumption.
Al-Kandari confirmed that legal procedures were taken on the spot, including the destruction of the contaminated goods and the issuance of fines.
He stressed that protecting the health of citizens and residents is a top priority and warned that the Authority will take firm action against anyone attempting to sell adulterated or expired foodstuffs.
Under the direction of senior leadership, PAFN is continuing pre-emptive inspection campaigns across all six governorates to prevent spoiled food from reaching homes.
These efforts align with Cabinet directives aimed at ensuring food security and applying maximum penalties against violators.
