PACI employee, several others arrested for forgery, bribe in corruption case

The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of an employee working for the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) on charges of forging official documents and accepting bribes, as part of ongoing efforts to combat corruption and document fraud in Kuwait.

According to Anti-Financial Crimes Department affiliated to the Criminal Investigation Department, the employee exploited his position by accessing PACI’s electronic system to illegally change addresses of residents without their presence or proper documentation, violating established regulations, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Investigations revealed that the suspect charged KD 120 for each fraud transaction, completing over 5,000 illicit address transfers since the beginning of the year. He allegedly worked with a network of brokers inside and outside Kuwait, two of whom have also been arrested, along with seven people who paid bribes to process their requests.

Authorities discovered that the accused had used the illegal proceeds to purchase gold bars, jewelry, and luxury items, in an attempt to launder and conceal the origin of the funds.

All suspects and seized assets have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
