PACA Chief says, new control tower, third runway reflect Kuwait’s commitment to global aviation standards

The Director General of Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, said the new control tower and third runway project at Kuwait International Airport, officially inaugurated today under the patronage and attendance of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, represents a model of effective partnership and cooperation among state institutions in implementing major strategic projects.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Hamoud Al-Sabah said the project aligns with the latest international standards in civil aviation and air navigation, reflecting the technical and engineering excellence of national teams in delivering projects that meet the highest levels of quality and innovation.
He noted that the government continues to prioritize airport development initiatives, reinforcing Kuwait’s status as a regional hub for transportation and logistics services.
Al-Sabah explained that the control tower and third runway are part of a comprehensive package of development projects at Kuwait International Airport, implemented under the airport’s master plan, with the goal of upgrading the civil aviation infrastructure and improving operational efficiency.
The project is designed to increase the airport’s operational capacity, enable it to accommodate next-generation aircraft, and enhance air cargo, private, and commercial aviation services to meet the growing needs of the aviation sector.
According to DGCA, the third runway will be officially opened for operation on October 30, while the redevelopment of the eastern runway is scheduled for completion by November 15.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Mohammed Al-Mishaan, and several senior state officials.
