Over 22,000 traffic violations recorded in week-long security campaigns

Traffic, emergency police arrest dozens of wanted persons and residency violators; reckless drivers, impound hundreds of vehicles

Traffic and Operations Sector of the General Traffic Department during security and traffic campaigns across all governorates, achieved significant results as the men in uniform are determined to regulate road safety and enhance public security.

Upon direct instructions of the Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector, Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ateeqi, and with field supervision by the Director of the General Traffic Department, Brigadier Omar Al-Sari, the GTD continued its comprehensive inspections on interior and exterior roads throughout the past week.

According to official figures, the campaigns resulted in the issuance of 22,479 traffic citations, arrest of 29 reckless drivers, and the impoundment of 350 vehicles and 35 motorcycles.

This is in addition to the arrest of 22 juveniles who were caught driving without licenses.

Colonel Fahd Al-Essa, Director of the Traffic Awareness Department, said traffic patrols across the six governorates, along with traffic operations and investigations units, carried out intensive field campaigns that led to multiple arrests and referrals.

He noted that patrols also dealt with 2,426 traffic reports, including 956 collision accidents and 266 injury accidents.

Security patrols referred 55 wanted persons to the competent authorities, with cases ranging from arrest warrants to absconding and security restrictions.

The patrols also arrested 19 expatriates for staying in the country after the expiry of residence permits; four persons were detained for not carrying identification documents and seized 23 vehicles wanted by judicial authorities, and arrested a person in an abnormal condition who was referred to the General Department for Drug Control.

Meanwhile, the Directorate-General of Emergency Police conducted extensive field campaigns under the supervision of Brigadier General Rashid Al-Hajri and his assistant Brigadier General Hamlan Al-Hamlan.

These operations resulted in the arrest of 37 wanted individuals on various charges, including criminal cases, absconding, and residency violations. Emergency police patrols also issued 2,415 traffic violations, seized seven vehicles wanted by the judiciary, and impounded seven violating vehicles.

Patrols handled 114 traffic accidents and one pedestrian run-over case, provided assistance in 373 incidents, and responded to five fight reports, all of which were contained and resolved through legal procedures before referring the parties to the relevant authorities.

Authorities stressed that the campaigns will continue as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, enforce the law, and protect lives and property across the country.
