Old Farwaniya Hospital new center of medical tests for food handlers
The Ministry of Health has opened the Food Handlers Examination Center at the Old Farwaniya Hospital, marking the second center nationwide to offer this service.
The initiative aims to ensure the safety of workers involved in various stages of food processing and other professional groups with direct interaction with the public, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Dr. Al-Mundhir Al-Hasawi, the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs, explained that the center will provide examination services for food handlers, workers in food establishments, and other professional groups such as beauty salon workers, health institute employees, florists, and ornamental fish handlers.
The examinations include blood tests to check for HIV, hepatitis B and C, chest x-rays, and various other tests related to food safety and general health. The center will also offer vaccination services for targeted groups, including typhoid, hepatitis A, tetanus, influenza, and the updated COVID-19 vaccine.
The digital transformation of health services is being promoted, allowing individuals to receive their health fitness card electronically through the “Kuwait Health” and “Sahl” applications, valid for one year and renewable without the need for in-person renewal.
The Farwaniya center is expected to handle about 2,000 appointments per day. This initiative aims to enhance food safety, reduce the spread of diseases transmitted through contaminated food and hands, and provide health awareness for workers in relevant sectors. The electronic services are part of efforts to streamline processes and digitally transform health services.
