Nuwaiseeb customs officers outsmart cigarettes smugglers

Customs inspectors at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing foiled a smuggling attempt involving cigarettes hidden inside a vehicle’s tires.

During a routine check, officers initially spotted 20 packs of cigarettes in plain view inside the car.

However, a further X-ray scan revealed suspicious densities within all four tires.

Following manual inspection of tires inspectors found 620 cigarette packs expertly concealed.

Authorities have seized the cigarettes and referred the suspect for legal proceedings.
