Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard made a bombshell claim, stating that the American public will soon uncover the truth behind what she described as a “long-term coup” orchestrated by top Obama-era intelligence officials to undermine President Donald Trump.
Speaking via the X platform, Gabbard outlined a timeline suggesting that the Obama administration manipulated intelligence assessments in 2016 for political ends.
She said the intelligence community had initially agreed that Russia neither intended nor had the capacity to hack the U.S. election. However, after Trump’s surprise victory, that assessment shifted under direct orders from the White House, according to news agencies.
She alleged that on December 9, 2016, a secret White House meeting, attended by FBI Director James Comey, CIA Director John Brennan, and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, was convened by President Obama to create a new narrative of Russian interference — one that contradicted prior intelligence.
Gabbard further accused intelligence officials of leaking false and politically charged information to media outlets like The Washington Post, fueling public distrust and setting the stage for what she labeled an attempted coup against Trump.
According to Gabbard, a key element in this disinformation campaign was the discredited Steele dossier, which was used in the intelligence assessment revealed just days before Trump’s inauguration. She said leaked documents confirm that Clapper and Brennan relied on the unverified file to support false claims.
Calling the scheme, a “treasonous plot”, Gabbard said this betrayal affected every American. She called for a full investigation and legal accountability for all involved, and confirmed that she had turned over the evidence to the Department of Justice.
