Neymar not to play Brazil-Egypt warm-up match

The Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Thursday that Neymar will not travel to Cleveland to participate in Brazil’s World Cup warm-up match against Egypt next Saturday, as he continues to receive intensive treatment for a calf injury.
The Brazilian Football Confederation said in a statement, “Neymar will not travel with the delegation to Cleveland.”
“He will remain in New Jersey, where he is undergoing physical therapy and intensifying his physical recovery program.”
Brazil’s all-time leading scorer is out of action due to a grade 2 calf injury, a moderate muscle injury involving a partial tear.
The Brazilian national team’s coaching staff remains optimistic that the 34-year-old player will be ready to participate in the World Cup opening match against Morocco on June 13.
Brazil, five-time World Cup winners, will face Haiti and Scotland in Group C.
