Head of Parliament’s Human Resources Committee MP Khalil Al-Saleh revealed that he has started collecting signatures of his colleagues to expedite discussions on a report related to levying the remittances of expatriates which was issued by the Parliament’s Financial Committee and added to the parliament’s agenda, reports Al-Rai daily.

He highlighted the recent reports of the Central Bank of Kuwait as per which the remittances of expatriates had increased to almost KD 4.2 billion last year.

Al-Saleh affirmed that he will request for the relevant proposal to be discussed during the session on May 14, insisting that the charges imposed on the remittances of expatriates will help in improving the services and contribute to increasing the state revenues.

He denied the concerns raised about the negative effects of such decisions on the real-estate sector, stressing that this policy is implemented in most countries around the world.
