As part of its ongoing efforts to support international efforts, the State of  Kuwait has once again come forward in assisting the World health Organization with a contribution of US$40 million to help fight the global pandemic which continues to grow unabated.

Foreign Minister of Kuwait H.E. Dr. Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah representing HH The Amir of Kuwait told the virtual summit of the Non Align Movement on Monday that Kuwait till now has donated US$100 million in the global efforts to fight the virus and address its repercussion.

A press release issued in New Delhi stressed that Kuwait would continue to back the WHO and other international partners to counter the pandemic and promised to play its continued proactive role in promoting humanitarian efforts.

The Minister underscored the need for international synergy to defeat the rapidly growing virus as “that was the only way to come out of this crisis and achieve tangible results”.

Shaikh Ahmad said that his country consider this epidemic as a very serious international health crisis as of which Kuwait has intensified its efforts with the WHO and other international bodies.

He urged the nations of the NAM movement should closely coordinate their efforts and cooperate in the fight against corona to protect the people and help mitigate the expected fallout on their economies.

At the same time, The Minister also underlined the need for transparency, credibility and sharing of all COVID 19 information and cautioned against premature easing of preventive measures.
