The Environment Public Authority (EPA) on Wednesday inked a memorandum of understanding with Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) to achieve the mutual goal; safeguarding the Kuwaiti environment and biodiversity.

EPA Director General and Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said in a statement that such cooperation “emanates from our sense of challenges facing the nature.”

He called for cooperation among all State sectors to protect the environment and achieve sustainable development, endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly, envisaging 17 objectives, partly related to tackling environmental deterioration and climatic change. On fish deaths and the red tide recurrence, he said that the relevant national panel met on Tuesday and worked out plans to tackle these problems. Sheikh Abdullah called for speedy collection of the dead fish still in the waters and tackle the dirty water in the rain sewers reaching the sea.
