Jazeera Airways on Sunday operated 15 flights to repatriate Kuwaiti citizens at the behest of the Kuwaiti government and civil aviation authorities, said a senior Jazeera official Sunday.

Jazeera Airway is part of a repatriation plan aiming at bringing overseas citizens back home following the outbreak of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) worldwide, CEO of Jazeera Airways Terminal (T.5) at Kuwait International Airport Mane Al-Manea told KUNA.

The airline has put its fleet of 14 planes at the disposal of the Kuwaiti government to bring in Kuwaiti citizens abroad, along with medical supplies needed by the country under these circumstances, he added.

The airline’s participation in the repatriation of overseas nationals reflects its commitment as a national carrier and part of efforts to promote the national economy, Al-Manea noted.

The Kuwaiti cabinet had adopted a phased process to bring back Kuwaiti citizens abroad.

The plan envisages five phases: the first started today and lasts until Tuesday, covering Kuwaitis who completed medical treatment abroad along with their companions, also tourists or those who were on official assignments.

The second stage (April 23) covers patients who need medical beds and life support equipment. The third one (April 25-May 1) targets students, the fourth (May 3-4) for diplomats and the fifth (May 6-7) for other segments.
