New safety, environment engineers set to transform Kuwait’s institutions

The announcement for the appointment of engineers specializing in industrial, chemical, and petroleum engineering, as well as political science graduates, will be made on the 25th of this month.

  • Among the key roles highlighted by the sources are the appointments of engineers in the fields of “safety and environment” across schools, hospitals, health facilities, and various government agencies and ministries.

  • Engineers will receive the salary and job classification applicable in all government agencies, regardless of the specific agency to which they are appointed.

Maryam Bandak stated to Al-Anbaa newspaper that today, the Civil Service Bureau will announce the introduction of new job titles to accommodate stagnant specializations that have been awaiting appointments for over three years.

This announcement came during a workshop attended by Dr. Issam Al-Rubaian, the head of the bureau, along with professors from the faculties of engineering and political science.

The sources indicated that the workshop aims to explain to representatives of government agencies the new responsibilities of these specializations within the ministries, emphasizing the important and necessary tasks they will undertake. They revealed that the announcement for the appointment of engineers specializing in industrial, chemical, and petroleum engineering, as well as political science graduates, will be made on the 25th of this month.

Among the key roles highlighted by the sources are the appointments of engineers in the fields of “safety and environment” across schools, hospitals, health facilities, and various government agencies and ministries. Their responsibilities will include the provision, implementation, and supervision of security and environmental systems.

Additionally, engineers will be appointed as “contracts and projects” engineers to oversee critical contracts and projects, ensuring the smooth execution of development plans valued at millions of dinars and preventing any potential defects.

The sources reassured the engineers that the Civil Service Council has approved a law ensuring that engineers receive the same salary and job classification. They stated, “Engineers will receive the salary and job classification applicable in all government agencies, regardless of the specific agency to which they are appointed.”

Additionally, the sources mentioned that “allowances due to engineers will be provided based on the nature of their assigned work, such as road allowances, site allowances, or other allowances not included in their salary components.”

The sources stated that the bureau has requested ministries such as health and education to submit requests for the disbursement of shift allowances or night-time allowances for engineers whose work requires visits to hospitals, schools, and educational centers in areas like Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City or Al-Mutlaa.

The sources further said, “There are current job titles that ministries were not eager to request, such as political science majors, although this field can provide employment in multiple sectors. Another example is the title of editor for reviewing ministry data, which is now essential for every ministry and workplace and has therefore been reinstated.”

The sources concluded by stating that Dr. Khaled Al-Hazaa, the Dean of the College of Engineering, and Dr. Heila Al-Makimi, the Head of the Political Science Department, Dr. Osama Al-Rashed, the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Dr. Mabkhout Al-Dosari, the Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Khader, the Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, contributed voluntarily to creating these job titles.

They determined the job titles and created new job description cards for the three engineering majors, as well as for graduates of political science and liberal arts majors appointed to the position of administrative transactions coordinator.
