New regulations launched for “Transfer of Domestic Labour”
The General Authority for Manpower has launched an awareness campaign through its social media sites, about the rights and duties of domestic workers and the seamless mechanism of transfer, from one employer to another.
A reliable source explained to Al-Anbaa that if the domestic worker is transferred during the guarantee period, which is specified in accordance with the law and the regulations governing him within 6 months, “from the date of the worker’s arrival in Kuwait”, without the knowledge of the “Manpower Authority”.
In such a scenario, the guarantee will be lost on the worker, unless a new contract is made; between the new employer, the office, the worker and the Authority, which is represented by the “Department of Organisation and Recruitment of Domestic Workers.”
Moreover, the source also added that if the domestic worker refuses to continue working during the 6-month period, then the worker must be handed over to the Domestic Labour Recruitment Organisation Department, to ensure the employer’s right to recover the fees paid for the recruitment of the worker.
