New non-surgical treatment shows promise in relieving chronic back pain

Clinical trials of a groundbreaking treatment for degenerated spinal discs have delivered impressive results, and demonstrated significant pain relief and improved physical function.

According to New Atlas, citing a study published in the journal BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, the innovative therapy may delay or even eliminate the need for surgical intervention.

The spine’s intervertebral discs, which act as shock absorbers, naturally degrade with age or injury, especially the nucleus pulposus (NP) — a gelatinous, water-rich core essential for cushioning. When the NP deteriorates, it can result in chronic discogenic back pain.

An American biotech firm specializing in regenerative medicine has developed VIA Disc NP, a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment that restores damaged disc tissue.

According to results shared on Al Arabiya.net, the therapy has shown strong potential to treat disc-related pain effectively, offering new hope for millions affected by chronic spinal conditions.
