New Indian School (NIS) conducts Annual Day on ‘Art Integrated Learning’

With great pomp and gaiety, New Indian School, Mangaf organized four days Annual Day programme on 25th, 27th, 28th and 29th of January 2024, based on the theme Art Integrated Learning for classes I to X. The aim of organizing the Annual Day based on this unusual theme was to show case AIL strategies adopted by NIS.

The programme commenced with the recital of verses from the Holy Quran followed by the rendition of the Kuwait National Anthem and prayer song. The little dazzlers of NIS performed an invocation dance and Welcome dance. The Principal, Ms. Anita Sadanand, welcomed the gathering and explained the reason behind selecting this unusual theme for Annual Day of the school.

The flurry of festivities began with a motivational dance focusing on an ideal method to conduct Morning Assembly. It was followed by the department-wise display of Art Integrated strategies. The Department of English explored ‘Grammar’ through a skit and presented dramas ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Pygmalion’ to enhance the speaking and acting skills of the students. The Department of Arabic portrayed the theme ‘Teaching Methodology’ through a wonderful dance performance

Whereas the Department of French focused on dance titled ‘The Perfect World’ which helped the students to understand the language in an easier way. The Hindi department pivoted on Nukkad Natak (street play) to portray the struggles of women calling for their empowerment in society.

The Department of Social Science enthralled the audience by presenting a Nicobari dance. The audience got a glimpse of the five elements of the Universe viz. Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Space and their inter-connectedness through a scintillating dance performance which was organized by the Department of Counseling.

The Bacteria Dance about microorganisms was choreographed by the Biology department. The Department of Mathematics focused on an action song on ‘Subtraction’. The importance of learning Mathematics was explained through a skit ‘Why to Learn mathematics?’. The Department of Science presented a skit on “Chandrayaan”.

The tiny tots of Grade I and II showcased their capabilities and stole the hearts of the parents through variousAIL performances such as fashion show on ‘Continents’, a musical skit on ‘Community Helpers’, musical drama on ‘Seasons’.

Each and every performance by the Grade I and II was directly connected with the academic concepts that they learn in the classrooms. They also explicated the importance of ‘Saving Trees’ through a musical skit. The marvelous ‘Planet Dance ‘educated the audience about the Planets.

The curtains were drawn after thanksgiving by the Vice- Principal, Ms. Jeya Ananthi. The parents left the school premises with an overwhelming sense of exhilaration and congratulated the NIS fraternity for selecting such an unusual theme which was successful in intertwining Education and Entertainment.
