New hotline to report nationality, passport crimes based on law: Ministry

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that anyone aware of a crime is obliged to report it in accordance with the law.

The Ministry of Interior stated that its statement, published on Friday and designating a hotline to report nationality and Kuwaiti passport crimes, is based on laws aimed at combating crime and corruption, and preserving national identity and the public interest. It emphasized that anyone aware of a crime is obliged to report it in accordance with the law.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized Article (14) of Law 17 of 1960 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and Trials that “every person who witnesses the commission of a crime or knows of its occurrence must immediately report it to the nearest police or investigation authority. Failure to report, out of disinterest in the accused, leads to punishment with the penalty of abstaining from testifying. This ruling excludes the spouse of the accused or their ascendants or descendants from the obligation to report.”

The ministry affirmed that all decisions are fully compliant with the Constitution, laws, and security considerations to protect the public interest. All Ministry of Interior contact numbers are designated for reporting crimes.
