NCC discusses GCC cooperation on emergency response and cybersecurity

Abeer Al-Awadhi, Director of Kuwait’s National Cybersecurity Center, held discussions with Brigadier General Dr. Rashid Al Marri, Director of the GCC Emergency Management Center at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, focusing on areas of mutual interest — chief among them, cybersecurity.
In a press release, the NCC stated that the meeting explored ways to strengthen collaboration through the exchange of expertise and the development of technical capabilities.
This would be achieved by organizing joint training programs and conducting regional cybersecurity exercises to boost collective preparedness, reports Al-Rai daily.
One of the key proposals discussed was the development of a unified Gulf guide for information security during emergency situations. This initiative aims to enhance readiness and improve the level of coordinated cybersecurity response across GCC member states.
The statement further noted that the Center’s leadership welcomed increased cooperation and the sharing of information among regional partners, emphasizing that such efforts are essential to bolstering cybersecurity and ensuring a unified and resilient defense framework in the face of evolving cyber threats.
