Nazaha refers coop chairman to Prosecution over ‘conflict of interest’ allegations

The Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) has referred the chairman of a cooperative society’s board of directors to the Public Prosecution over allegations of what Nazaha said ‘conflict of interest’.

The alleged offense falls under the provisions of Law No. 1 of 2023, which addresses the prevention of conflicts of interest, and is also classified as ‘corruption’ under Law No. 2 of 2016, concerning the establishment of the Public Authority for Combating Corruption, as amended by Decree-Law No. 69 of 2025, reports Al-Rai daily.

Investigations into the case will continue under the supervision of the Public Prosecution, which will determine whether formal charges will be filed against the chairman.

This move reflects the commitment of the commission to hold senior officials accountable and prevent conflicts of interest that may undermine public trust in governance and institutional integrity.

Nazaha’s referral highlights the ongoing efforts of Kuwaiti authorities to enforce strict compliance with anti-corruption regulations and uphold transparency in public and private institutions.
