National committee explores new initiatives to boost domestic tourism this summer

The Standing Committee for Celebrating National Holidays and Occasions held its fifth meeting on Sunday at the Seif Palace, chaired by Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi.

The meeting brought together committee members representing various official bodies, including Sheikha Amthal Al-Ahmad, Chairwoman of the Volunteer Work Center, to explore practical ways to stimulate domestic tourism during the summer season, reports Al-Rai daily.

During the meeting, Al-Mutairi outlined several forward-looking recommendations aimed at making Kuwait a more attractive destination for residents and visitors during the hotter months.

The key proposals include:

  • Launching a dedicated website to showcase tourism-related initiatives in line with approved terms and standards.
  • Facilitating transit visa procedures in the coming period to encourage more tourist inflow.
  • Extending business hours in shopping malls and organizing cultural and recreational events in these venues throughout the summer.
  • Hosting theatrical performances to enrich the entertainment scene.
  • Integrating the Tourism Enterprises Company’s activities into the “Hayakum” application, positioning it as a central digital hub for all events and attractions across the country.

The committee also reviewed summer travel offers by Jazeera Airways in collaboration with Kuwait Airways, aimed at making travel more accessible and attractive to the public. A visual presentation was delivered by the Hayakum platform team, highlighting upcoming tourism, cultural, and sports events, including activities by the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters and initiatives from the Gardenia Project.

The Tourism Projects Company provided a detailed overview of its ongoing and upcoming projects, emphasizing their role in enriching Kuwait’s domestic tourism portfolio. The presentation was accompanied by a report from the committee’s evaluation and quality control team, which shared insights on the progress and effectiveness of tourism-related initiatives.

A proposal to create a comprehensive tourist guide for Kuwait was also tabled, aiming to offer residents and visitors a structured and informative overview of attractions, events, and services across the country.

Moreover, the meeting discussed promotional packages offered by several local hotels at competitive rates, as part of broader efforts to encourage more citizens and residents to explore Kuwait as a summer destination.
