Nation pays tribute to Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad’s legacy of service and leadership

Remembers late Amir’s lifelong dedication to national progress and security

On the second anniversary of the death of His Highness the late amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait paid tribute to his enduring legacy, recalling his virtues, dedication, and lifelong service to the nation’s progress, stability, and elevated status regionally and internationally.

The people of Kuwait, reflecting on December 16, 2023, remember the late amir’s remarkable achievements and leadership as a beacon of guidance, generosity, and sacrifice.

Over more than six decades, Sheikh Nawaf left an indelible mark across various governmental and military positions, striving to develop institutions, empower personnel, and strengthen Kuwait’s standing in regional, Arab, and international forums.

During his three years as amir, Sheikh Nawaf focused on consolidating national security, safeguarding citizens, fostering unity, and advancing Kuwait’s development.

Born on June 25, 1937, he was the sixth son of the late Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and he began his political career in 1962 as Governor of Hawalli.

He later held key positions including Minister of Interior, Minister of Defense, Deputy Chief of the National Guard, and First Deputy Prime Minister, consistently working to enhance the country’s security, military capabilities, and social services.

Sheikh Nawaf played a pivotal role during the 1990 Iraqi invasion, mobilizing resources for the country’s liberation and ensuring the safety of the legitimate leadership in Saudi Arabia.

In 2006, he was appointed Crown Prince, serving for 14 years alongside the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, contributing to Kuwait’s governance and international stature.

Kuwait continues to honor Sheikh Nawaf’s memory as a symbol of dedication, integrity, and service to the nation, inspiring future generations.
