Narcotics with street value of 1.15 million dinars seized by Kuwait

Afghan citizen, member of organized international smuggling network in police custody

In a major joint security operation, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics into Kuwait via sea — 100 kilograms of shabu and 10 kilograms of heroin with an estimated street value of 1.15 million dinars.

The operation was carried out under the supervision and in the presence of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, as a result of close intelligence coordination between the Kuwait and UAE ministries of Interior.

The operation, part of an organized international smuggling network, was busted on precise security intelligence that a sea container loaded with drugs was destined for Kuwait port. A comprehensive tracking plan was put in place in coordination with the General Administration of Customs, allowing the container to leave Shuwaikh Port and monitoring its movement until it reached its destination.

An Afghan national was arrested in Amghara when he received the container, following which the authorities sought the help of the Kuwait Fire Force to open the container and handle the contents.

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef expressed deep appreciation to Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for the cooperation and intelligence sharing.
