‘Mutriba’ records 9°C as temperatures drop across Kuwait

Kuwait witnessed a noticeable drop in temperatures across various regions early Wednesday morning, around 6:00 am.

Meteorologist Issa Ramadan told Al-Qabas that Mutriba was the coldest area in the country, recording just 9°C, while Al-Salmi and Kuwait International Airport registered around 11°C.

He explained that temperatures ranged between 14°C and 17°C in the western and desert regions such as Al-Abraq, Al-Manaqish, and nearby farms.

Coastal areas were relatively milder due to the moderating influence of the sea, with readings between 18°C and 22°C in Ras Al-Salmiya and other eastern coastal zones. Failaka Island recorded about 12°C, while Bubiyan Island registered 10°C.

Ramadan noted that by mid-November, cloud cover typically increases, raising the likelihood of rainfall—first over western Saudi Arabia and gradually extending toward Kuwait and neighboring regions.

He added that in recent years, the rainy season has tended to arrive later than in previous decades, a trend clearly linked to climate change in the Arab region.

He emphasized that this temperature drop marks Kuwait’s transition into the actual cold-weather phase during nighttime and dawn hours, expecting temperatures to fall further in the coming days, particularly in desert and open areas.

Ramadan advised desert visitors and camping enthusiasts to dress warmly and take necessary precautions during the evening and early morning hours.
