Municipality reports 400% spike in debris, waste in just two days

The Kuwait Municipality clears 568 tons of rubble in investment and commercial areas on Thursday and Friday.

  • Muhammad Sandan, Director of the Public Relations Department and official spokesman for Kuwait Municipality, urged property owners to voluntarily remove their violations in accordance with municipal regulations to avoid fines.

Muhammad Sandan, Director of the Public Relations Department and official spokesman for Kuwait Municipality, reported a significant increase in the amount of rubble and unidentified waste removed from investment and commercial properties across all six governorates on Thursday and Friday, according to Al Jarida newspaper.

Sandan announced in a press statement that the volume of rubble and waste removed on Thursday and Friday was estimated at about 568 tons, a four-fold increase (400%) from the normal rate of 100 to 150 tons in investment and commercial areas.

This information comes from reports by supervisors overseeing the cleaning companies contracted by the municipality, along with cleanliness inspectors and monitors in those areas.

He warned that hygiene departments in all governorates will strictly enforce penalties against violators who dump rubble and waste in front of properties. He urged property owners to remove their violations voluntarily, in accordance with municipal regulations, which require property owners to remove rubble and waste rather than piling it up in front of their properties to avoid fines.

He concluded by emphasizing that the municipality teams are committed to enforcing the municipality’s rules and regulations, removing waste of unknown origin, and filing reports and violations against offenders.
