Municipality distributes 96 truffle market stalls through public lottery

The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality announced that the Audit and Follow-up Department of Municipal Services and the Food and Markets Control Department at the Capital Governorate Municipality, organized a public lottery to allocate 96 stalls (out of 5,277 applicants of whom 5,267 met the required conditions and regulations) for the seasonal truffle market in the Al-Rai markets area.
The food and markets supervisor at the Audit and Follow-up Department, Abdulrahman Al-Rashidi, explained the stalls were distributed through a transparent public lottery system, reports Al-Rai daily.
Lots were randomly picked from a box to ensure fairness and integrity in the municipality’s procedures. The stalls may be operated for a period of six months only, in accordance with the conditions and controls stipulated in the Public Markets Regulation issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 151/2006.
He added that the draw and organizational procedures were conducted under the supervision of the Audit and Follow-up Department and members of the Markets Committee, with participation from the Ministry of Interior represented by the Friday Market Police Station.
During the draw, several attendees were invited to participate in selecting the names to further ensure transparency.
