‘Municipal Legal Department’ implements new camping regulations

Today, Monday, the Legal and Financial Committee of the Municipal Council, completed its approval of the new camping regulations, and submitted them to the main session of the Council.

Importantly, under the new camping regulations, the licensing fees for associations, government agencies and the like have been amended, to pay 100 dinars for a non-refundable license and 200 dinars as insurance.

Moreover, an article was added to the regulation. It stated that owners of small and medium enterprises with activities related to setting-up wilderness camps; are permitted to issue a ‘camp rental’ license, with fees set at, 500 dinars per 1,000 square meters. Thereby, allowing them to be set up in an area of no less than 5,000 square meters, and a maximum area of 10,000 square meters.

According to the regulation, it is permissible to license the sites for power generators, stipulated at a fee of 1,000 dinars per month.

In this regard, the Municipal Council member, Fahd Al-Abduljader shared that the Legal Committee approved the spring camps regulations, including the articles that were submitted. These are meant to support Kuwaiti youth, and provide them with job opportunities through opening new windows as small business owners.

Al-Abduljader stressed in a statement following the committee meeting that they were keen not to leave the issue of implementing the camps’ regulations and what concerns youth. Also, it was done out of concern for the public interest, support for Kuwaiti youth, development of the business environment, opening new windows that positively reflect on the private sector, and encouraging government agencies to participate in social and entertainment projects that serve citizens directly. At the same time, contribute towards maximizing and increasing the state’s non-oil revenues.

Furthermore, Al-Abduljader shared that this was done while participating in the proposal submitted by the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Abdullah Al-Mahri; Vice Chairman of the Municipal Council, Khaled Al-Mutairi and; member Ismail Behbehani.

Al-Abduljader explained that according to the new camps regulations, activities licensed by the Ministry of Commerce, involving; coffee shops, juices and refreshments and light meals, are allowed to hold the activity in the locations specified by the Kuwait Municipality, which is in accordance with the cleanliness regulations and the spring camps regulations. He added that ministries, government agencies, private companies and public benefit associations are also allowed to hold spring camps.

In continuation, Al-Abduljader mentioned that according to the regulation which is in accordance with what was stated in the proposal, camp owners have the right to rent the camp according to the conditions determined by the Kuwait Municipality.

The proposal also includes not establishing any facility with construction materials or placing earthen barriers as a commitment to environmental controls, and private companies working in the energy sector are also allowed to license sites to provide energy supply services that are meant to serve spring camps, according to the conditions and regulations.
