Multiple marriages surge; 632 Kuwaiti men wed more than once in 2024

Government data shows that in 2024, 554 Kuwaiti men married a second wife, 65 took a third, and 13 a fourth.

The figures come amid a 12.4% rise in marriage contracts for Kuwaiti men compared to 2023, reaching 11,964 contracts. Kuwaiti men overwhelmingly chose Kuwaiti women, with 88% of marriages occurring within the nationality, reports Al-Qabas daily,

Marriages peaked in November 2024 with 1,156 contracts, while August recorded the lowest number at just 792.

The most common age for Kuwaiti grooms was between 25 and 29, while Kuwaiti brides were most often aged between 20 and 24.

The number of divorces for Kuwaiti men rose by 5.2% in 2024, totaling 6,240 cases compared to 5,932 in 2023. Most divorces involved Kuwaiti wives (82%), while 18% were with non-Kuwaiti wives. For non-Kuwaiti men, divorce rates dipped slightly by 0.3%.

In 2024, 68 Kuwaiti men aged 15–19 tied the knot, compared to 1,089 women in the same age bracket. The data highlights ongoing early marriage trends, particularly among young women.
