‘Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port’ to be operational by 2026

The Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, which is nearing its final stage, is set to be completed by the end of 2026, according to the Council of Ministers’ latest update, in its last meeting held the day before yesterday.

Sources told Al-Anba that the project located on Bubiyan Island, is being carried out by the Chinese State Construction and Communications Corporation Limited under a direct contract with the Chinese Ministry of Transport.

The project, which is divided into three stages, is nearing its final phase and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. It is considered one of the key development initiatives aligned with the “Kuwait 2035” vision and will play a crucial role in diversifying the nation’s sources of income.

Sources confirmed that Mubarak Port’s completion will significantly contribute to the diversification of Kuwait’s economy by developing the northern region, increasing the GDP, and reducing reliance on oil as the primary source of income.

The project is viewed as a vital element in Kuwait’s long-term growth strategy. The government, including the Ministries of Public Works, Finance, and Foreign Affairs, is actively coordinating the implementation, financing, and oversight of this ambitious development.

Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port is regarded as one of the cornerstone projects of the development plan, essential for enhancing regional transportation systems and supporting Kuwait’s commercial and economic growth. The port will also play a central role in the broader transportation and ports infrastructure plan, further solidifying its importance to the nation’s future.
