Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project to transform regional trade, security

The Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, which is expected to have a profound impact on Kuwait’s development process, aims to become a safe regional corridor and a commercial center, said the Council of Ministers.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya inaugurated the new Kuwaiti embassy headquarters in Abu Dhabi, with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, in attendance.

Kuwait and the UAE discuss strengthening cooperation across various fields and supporting the GCC in tackling regional and global challenges to benefit their peoples.

 

The Council of Ministers held its weekly meeting on Tuesday at Bayan Palace, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Al Qabas reported.

Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereeda Abdullah Al-Mousherji announced that the Council of Ministers reviewed the outcomes of Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali AlYahyas visit to the brotherly United Arab Emirates (UAE). The visit, which involved chairing the fifth session of the Joint Supreme Committee between the two countries in Abu Dhabi, included discussions with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Kuwait, UAE bolster brotherly relations and cooperation

The talks focused on strengthening the brotherly ties between Kuwait and the UAE, enhancing cooperation in various fields, and supporting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in addressing regional and global challenges to serve the interests of their peoples.

AlYahya also discussed the results of the Joint Higher Committee meeting, during which several agreements were signed within the framework of memorandums of understanding and executive programs, reflecting the strengthening of close brotherly relations between them in various vital and important fields.

The council also noted the opening of the new headquarters of the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin ZayedAl Nahyan.

Kuwait, China advance key agreements following high-level delegation visit

On the other hand, the Council of Ministers was briefed on the results of the recent visit by the Chinese government delegation to the country. In this regard, Dr. Noura Mohammed Al-Mashan, Minister of Public Works, provided an explanation on the activation of agreements signed between the governments of the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China.

These agreements include the implementation, management, and operation of the Mubarak Al-KabeerPort project in all its stages, with the aim of creating a safe regional corridor and a commercial center in the region, in line with the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him.

The council also heard an explanation from the Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Nora Suleiman Al-Fassam, regarding her meeting with the Chinese government delegation, which included the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting focused on discussing the details and mechanisms for initiating the implementation of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project in all its stages, which is expected to have a profound impact on the country’s development process.

Conducive academic environment

With the new academic year approaching, and based on the government’s commitment to creating a conducive academic environment for students at all school levels across all governorates, the Council of Ministers reviewed a visual presentation by , Dr. Nader Abdullah Al-Jalal, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Education.

The presentation covered the ministry’s preparations for the 2024-2025 academic year, including the arrangements made by relevant committees for the rehabilitation, maintenance, and preparation of schools, securing of teaching staff and textbooks, and the selection of several nutrition companies for school canteens approved by the Public Food and Nutrition Authority.

The Council of Ministers expressed its thanks and appreciation for the great efforts made by Dr. Nader Abdullah Al-Jalal and the employees of the Ministry of Education in achieving the best possible preparations for the new academic year. They also extended their wishes for success to all students, emphasizing the importance of their role in the country’s progress.

The Council called for maximum efforts to provide an environment that enhances educational attainment and maximizes its effectiveness, contributing to the creation of an educated generation capable of bearing its responsibilities in building and advancing the nation.

Protecting natural reserves

The Council of Ministers directed the Public Authority for Environment to swiftly coordinate with the Fatwa and Legislation Department to take the necessary legal measures to amend the articles related to tightening criminal and financial penalties on violators, in order to protect nature reserves. This is to ensure the enforcement of Environmental Protection Law No. 42 of 2014, as amended by Law No. 99 of 2015, which focuses on preserving nature reserves and preventing harm to terrestrial or marine organisms within these reserves or damage to their contents in any way.

This directive is part of the ongoing responsibility and coordination with the United Nations Environmental Rehabilitation Commission program in the State of Kuwait.

The Council of Ministers congratulated Kuwaiti player Faisal Al-Rajhi on winning the bronze medal in the 5000-meter finals of the wheelchair running competition at the Paralympic Games in Paris. They wished him continued success and further achievements in sports, aiming to raise the banner of the homeland in various regional and international forums.
