‘Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port contract reflects Kuwait’s infrastructure development drive’

Infrastructure is a fundamental pillar of development, particularly seaports and Kuwait International Airport, which is nearing completion, alongside other projects supporting infrastructure and sustainable development -- Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya

Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya said on Monday that the signing of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to complete the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project reflects the State of Kuwait’s commitment to developing its infrastructure and strengthening its strategic position in the transport and logistics sector.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Yahya said the project marks an important milestone in Kuwait’s national development path and highlights the strength of the growing bilateral relations between Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China. He noted that it also reflects the high level of trust and cooperation between the two countries in implementing major development projects of strategic significance.

The minister stressed that Kuwaiti-Chinese cooperation represents a key pillar in supporting Kuwait Vision 2035 through the transfer of expertise, exchange of experiences and the strengthening of economic partnerships in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both friendly nations.

Al-Yahya said Kuwait is currently witnessing a new executive phase aimed at translating development visions into tangible reality, based on a clear and well-studied plan.

He explained that the seven agreements signed during His Highness the Amir’s visit to China in September 2023 constituted the practical foundation for this phase, noting that the achievements being realized today represent the first outcomes of those agreements, which initially began as memoranda of understanding.

He added that the coming phase will see the completion of the remaining agreements, providing additional momentum to the implementation of Kuwait Vision 2035 and strengthening economic and development progress.

Al-Yahya emphasized that the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project represents a qualitative leap in supporting the national economy and transforming Kuwait into a regional financial and commercial hub.

He underlined that infrastructure is a fundamental pillar of development, particularly seaports and Kuwait International Airport, which is nearing completion, alongside other projects supporting infrastructure and sustainable development.
