MPW prepares for rainy season, intensifies drainage maintenance
Coordination underway to prevent flooding in critical areas as emergency teams clean manholes and highways across Kuwait; Public Works urges citizens to avoid dumping waste in drains

The Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport are continuing maintenance work on manholes and rainwater drainage lines as part of preparations for the upcoming rainy season.
The emergency teams from both authorities have begun cleaning drains and manholes nationwide, including along highways, since earlier this month.
Specialized companies have been tasked with removing accumulated waste and dirt from inside the manholes, ensuring that rainwater inlets remain clear and capable of draining water smoothly, reports Al-Rai quoting MPW sources.
In the meantime, the officials have stressed the importance of public cooperation, urging citizens and residents to dispose of waste in designated areas to prevent clogging. The cleaning process has already produced significant amounts of waste and debris, which are being collected and disposed of properly.
The Ministry confirmed that operations are progressing according to plan, with a focus on locations prone to water accumulation during moderate to heavy rainfall. Continuous coordination is also taking place through the Emergency Committee, which meets regularly to assess preparations.
Authorities added that key sites have been identified for the placement of water-draining machines to handle potential flooding and ensure a more efficient response once the rainy season begins.
