MPW begins major road overhaul with new maintenance contracts

Passports Roundabout heading toward Jahra get facelift

Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan said the ministry is moving forward with an ambitious road rehabilitation plan through new contracts aimed at radically improving the country’s road network. The initiative is a key part of Kuwait’s national infrastructure strategy designed to modernize and enhance road quality across all regions.

The minister emphasized that the ministry is committed to applying the highest technical standards in all stages of road maintenance. Specialized engineering and technical teams have been deployed to conduct regular field inspections, ensuring work is progressing on schedule and maintaining high implementation standards.

As part of this effort, maintenance activities are underway on the Fifth Ring Road, specifically near the Passports Roundabout heading toward Jahra. Engineer Abdullah Bu Hamad, Deputy Engineer supervising Contract No. (11) in the Capital Governorate, noted that a typical Type 3 asphalt layer is currently being applied. This process marks a critical phase in the rehabilitation of the road segment.

Bu Hamad assured that the ongoing work adheres strictly to safety requirements and technical specifications to guarantee road durability and improved user experience.

The Public Works Ministry’s campaign is aligned with Kuwait’s broader development objectives under “New Kuwait 2035,” aiming to deliver high-quality infrastructure that supports economic growth and enhances public safety.
