Motorists face deportation in case of serious traffic violations
The Ministry of Interior has warned motorists not to violate the traffic laws saying serious violations can have severe consequences, including administrative deportation, including motorists who drive without a valid license.
The ministry said it is imperative that expatriates verifying the validity of their driving licenses using the “My ID” or “Sahel” applications. Additionally, the source added some expatriates might be unaware of the withdrawal of their driving licenses without their knowledge for various reasons, and holding just a license does not exempt them from penalties, including potential deportation.
The source revealed 145 expatriates were administratively for driving without a valid license. It was emphasized that the Ministry of Interior, through the General Traffic Department, regularly runs a check on driving licenses.
If the specified conditions are not met, or if there are changes in the profession, especially for licenses issued after 2013, the license status will be marked as withdrawn in the “My ID” application.
