Moscow launches halal-friendly guide for visitors from Middle East

The guide covers everything needed for a seamless experience in the Russian capital, including iconic cultural landmarks, halal dining options, hotels with prayer facilities, and services that cater to Islamic traditions.

Muslim guests can choose from a wide range of halal-certified accommodations throughout Moscow. Many hotels offer halal dining options, prayer facilities upon request, and services thoughtfully adapted to meet Islamic standards.

In response to increasing interest from travelers across the Middle East, the Moscow City Tourism Committee has launched the Muslim-friendly Guide to Moscow — a comprehensive resource aimed at ensuring a comfortable and enriching stay for Arab visitors.

The guide covers everything needed for a seamless experience in the Russian capital, including iconic cultural landmarks, halal dining options, hotels with prayer facilities, and services that cater to Islamic traditions.

“We are proud to see Moscow becoming a more inclusive and welcoming destination for Muslim travelers,” said Magomed Mezhiev, Head of the International Cooperation Directorate. “From hotels with prayer facilities to halal restaurants and cultural experiences like Moscow Tea Time, we are working to ensure that every guest feels respected, inspired, and at home in our city.”

The guide features key mosques such as the Moscow Cathedral Mosque — one of the largest in Europe — and the Memorial Mosque on Poklonnaya Hill, which honors Muslim soldiers of WWII. Historic sites like the Old Mosque of Moscow and Yardyam Mosque offer both spiritual depth and architectural beauty in the heart of the city.

Muslim guests can choose from a wide range of halal-certified accommodations throughout Moscow. Many hotels offer halal dining options, prayer facilities upon request, and services thoughtfully adapted to meet Islamic standards. A full list of recommended properties can be found in the Muslim-friendly Guide.

Moscow’s dynamic culinary scene includes more than 30 halal-friendly restaurants, ranging from upscale Lebanese and Turkish delights to modern interpretations of Central Asian flavors.

“Moscow is a city where centuries-old heritage meets modern comfort — and we are proud to make it increasingly accessible to guests from the Middle East. Our new Muslim-friendly guide reflects our commitment to creating a welcoming environment for every traveler. With its cool summer climate, rich cultural program, halal-certified hospitality, and family-friendly experiences, Moscow is an ideal summer destination offering comfort and style,” said Magomed Mezhiev, Head of the International Cooperation Directorate.

Moscow tea time — A taste of Russian tradition and hospitality

Among the cultural highlights is Moscow Tea Time — a refined and immersive ritual that showcases the elegance of Russian hospitality through traditional tea ceremonies. Originally launched in Moscow, this experience is now available internationally, with a recent debut in Dubai, allowing guests in the UAE to explore a uniquely Russian way of gathering and sharing. Visitors can enjoy the signature “Moscow” tea blend alongside authentic Russian sweets like baranki and “Moscow” chocolates, all presented in traditional porcelain service. The initiative offers a unique window into the heart of Russian warmth and family values.

This initiative is part of a larger strategy by the Moscow City Tourism Committee to support halal tourism through thoughtful infrastructure, education, and hospitality training. It reflects Moscow’s broader vision as a cosmopolitan hub for travelers of all cultures and faiths.
