MOI cracks down on mall violence, violations, 20 arrested, offenders deported
The General Department of Criminal Investigation, in coordination with the Environment Police Department, conducted an intensive field security campaign targeting several shopping malls that had recently witnessed multiple brawls, some involving the use of knives. The campaign also led to the arrest of several people violating public morals.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior (MOI), the campaign resulted in the arrest of 20 individuals involved in instigating fights and creating disturbances.
The violators were deported, while legal action was taken against the citizens implicated in the incidents, according to Al-Anba daily.
Additionally, four individuals were arrested for violating public morals, and another four were apprehended by the Environment Police for smoking in closed public spaces inside shopping malls. Legal procedures were initiated against all offenders.
The Ministry reaffirmed that security and environmental authorities will continue to intensify inspection campaigns across shopping malls and public areas to identify and apprehend rioters and violators. It emphasized that strict, deterrent measures will be enforced against anyone found disturbing public order or breaching the nation’s laws and regulations.
