MOI continues traffic security campaigns, Khaitan targeted in ongoing campaign

The Ministry of Interior, under the directives of Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef and with field oversight from Assistant Undersecretary for Operations Major General Yousef Al-Khudda, continued its traffic security campaigns targeting residency law violators, traffic offenders, reckless drivers, and vandals.
Colonel Fahad Al-Essa, Director of the Awareness Department, stated that the campaign, now focusing on the Khaitan area for the second time, aims to ensure no area is exempt from security oversight, reports Al-Jarida daily.
This time, security checkpoints distributed awareness brochures in six languages to inform residents, especially foreigners, about new traffic laws and fines.
The campaign led to 101 traffic citations, 8 arrests for expired residency, 6 arrests of wanted individuals, 5 arrests persons reported absconders, and 13 people referred to authorities for not carrying ID.
Al-Essa highlighted increased adherence to traffic laws, noting better seatbelt use and fewer instances of mobile phone use while driving.
A positive observation during the campaign was the commitment of drivers to safety measures, reflecting the law’s growing effectiveness.
