MOI arrests members of banned terrorist Hezbollah group

The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of members of a terrorist group affiliated with the banned Hezbollah group.

Meanwhile, the Al-Rai daily said according to the ministry, the group consisted of 16 individuals, including 14 Kuwaiti citizens and two Lebanese nationals, who were allegedly involved in activities aimed at undermining the country’s sovereignty, destabilizing security, and recruiting individuals to join the terrorist organization.

Security investigations revealed what authorities described as an organized sabotage plot designed to spread chaos, disrupt public order, and threaten national security, posing risks to citizens, residents, and state assets, reports Al-Rai daily.

The ministry said that after obtaining the necessary legal authorization from the Public Prosecution, security forces conducted searches that resulted in the seizure of several items linked to the group.

These included firearms and ammunition, a weapon allegedly used for assassinations, encrypted Morse communication devices, drones, flags and images associated with terrorist organizations, as well as maps, narcotics, cash, and specialized weapons used for training.

Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be referred to the Public Prosecution to face the necessary legal measures.

The ministry stressed that the security and sovereignty of Kuwait are a “red line” that cannot be crossed. It warned that any cooperation with, support for, or financing of foreign terrorist groups will be met with strict and decisive action.

Security agencies also reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing anyone found to have links with terrorist organizations in order to safeguard the country’s stability and protect its citizens and residents.
