MOI arrests gang member for extorting money from expat vendors in Jleeb

The Ministry of Interior has busted a criminal gang for harassing Asian vendors in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, blackmailing them and demanding, what they called, ‘protection money’.

In a press release, the Ministry said the arrest came after obtaining video evidence documenting the gang members extorting money from vendors working in the area markets. The footage showed the suspects using intimidation tactics to extract money.

The sources said, plainclothes policemen then laid ambush and caught one of the gang members, believed to be a Bangladeshi, red-handed while extorting money from a vendor.

The security authorities have launched a manhunt for the rest of the suspects.
