MOH quick to respond to Al-Raqqa building fire incident
Provides highest standard of care in line with international protocols for treating severe burns and complex trauma

The Ministry of Health announced that it responded immediately to the fire that broke out Sunday in a residential building in Al-Riqqa, activating the health emergency as soon as the report was received.
The emergency medical teams coordinated closely on the ground with ambulance units and nearby hospitals to ensure the swift transfer of the injured to the hospital and provide urgent medical care.
In a statement, the ministry confirmed that medical teams handled a total of 10 cases. Six individuals were transferred to Farwaniya Hospital, with two requiring specialized care and subsequently moved to the Al-Babtain Center for Burns and Plastic Surgery, reports Al-Jarida daily
Four other patients were taken to Al-Sabah Hospital, and two of them were also referred to the Al-Babtain Center for continued treatment.
Sadly, two of the injured succumbed to their injuries. Two others have been discharged after receiving necessary treatment. The remaining cases are currently receiving advanced care in intensive care units and operating rooms.
Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Support Services, Dr. Abdullah Al-Fars, visited the site of the incident and the patients to follow up on their condition.
The Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and reaffirmed its commitment to providing the highest standard of care in line with international protocols for treating severe burns and complex trauma.
It also emphasized its ongoing preparedness and rapid response capability, in full coordination with relevant authorities, to safeguard public health and safety.
