MOH embarks on a mission to educate the elderly on safe medication practices

The Health Services for the Elderly Department at the Ministry of Health has launched an awareness campaign to highlight the risks of polypharmacy under the slogan ‘Health through balanced medication’.

The campaign, which will run until next Thursday across several health centers and shopping malls will educate elderly people and their caregivers about the importance of using medications safely and in balanced amounts.

It also focuses on identifying duplicate or inappropriate medications to help maintain the health and quality of life of senior citizens.

The campaign kicks off today at the Asima Mall from 10 am to 10 pm. On Monday, the campaign will move to the Al-Oyoun Health Center from 9 am to 12 pm, followed by Jabriya Health Center (Mahmoud Haidar) on Tuesday during the same hours.

Next Wednesday, the campaign will move to Bayan Health Center, and it will conclude on Thursday at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital from 9 am to 12 noon.

This effort is part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to raising community awareness about the dangers of polypharmacy, encouraging regular medication reviews with doctors and pharmacists to ensure safe and effective treatment for the elderly.
