MoFA to submit diplomatic law amendments for Cabinet review

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the final stages of preparing comprehensive amendments to the law governing the diplomatic and consular corps, with formal approval anticipated shortly.

This is in addition to several provisions of the executive regulations pertaining to diplomats which are set to be revised, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a diplomatic source.

The source explained that certain elements of the current law necessitate legislative updates to further strengthen and complete the legal framework, and work on these revisions is actively progressing.

The proposed amendments will first be presented to the Council of Ministers for review before being referred to the Legal Committee for final endorsement, the source added.

Meanwhile, the source confirmed that the appointment of a new ambassador to Beirut is expected to be officially approved within days, highlighting the Gulf’s enduring commitment to supporting Lebanon and Syria in advancing their development and ensuring their stability.
