Misdemeanor Court issues verdict in Al-Mangaf fire case
Two Kuwaitis, one Egyptian get three years each with hard labor for manslaughter

The Misdemeanor Court, presided over by Judge Anwar Bastaki, has issued verdicts in the high-profile Al-Mangaf fire case, sentencing a total of nine defendants.
Three defendants — two Kuwaitis and one Egyptian — were convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to three years in prison with hard labor.
Meanwhile, six others — three Egyptians and three Indians — received one-year prison sentences with hard labor on charges of perjury and harboring a fugitive, a person who was the subject of an active arrest warrant.
The Public Prosecution had classified the incident as a misdemeanor rather than a felony, following a technical investigation that concluded the fire was not intentional.
The case was accordingly referred to the General Department of Investigations at the Ministry of Interior for further legal proceedings.
The ruling brings a measure of accountability in a case that sparked public concern over safety and negligence in residential buildings.
