Minor incident involves Kuwait Airways flight to the Philippines, no injuries reported

Civil aviation confirms all 284 passengers and crew safe; technical malfunction identified and resolved

A Kuwait Airways outbound flight for the Philippines with 284 passengers on board encountered a minor incident early Friday morning before takeoff at Kuwait International Airport, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) confirmed.

PACA spokesman Abdullah Al-Rajhi said the incident occurred at 4:24 a.m. due to an emergency technical malfunction in the aircraft’s braking system while the plane was taxiing.

He emphasized that no injuries were reported among passengers or crew members and that the damage was limited to the aircraft’s exterior.

According to Al-Rajhi, the technical teams immediately handled the situation in line with approved safety procedures. The aircraft area was secured, and thorough technical inspections were carried out to ensure operational safety.

An alternative flight (KU417) was arranged and left for the Philippines at 12:20 p.m., ensuring that passengers continued their journey without further delay.

Al-Rajhi reaffirmed that the safety of passengers and aircrews remains the top priority for both Civil Aviation and Kuwait Airways, stressing that such situations are managed according to the highest international air safety standards.
