Ministry of Interior teams up with agencies to tackle traffic congestion

The ministry noted that the meeting aimed to resolve obstacles and find solutions for smoother traffic flow, with a final report to be submitted within six months.

Brigadier General Jamal Al-Foudari, Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic, chaired a preliminary meeting at the Traffic Directorate headquarters. The meeting, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Education, Kuwait Municipality, General Authority for Roads and Land Transport, Civil Service Bureau, and the Fatwa and Legislation Department, focused on addressing the issue of traffic congestion, according to Al Jarida newspaper.

The Ministry of Interior stated that the meeting was held “to unite efforts and advance the implementation of necessary procedures to address the problem at its various stages—short, medium, and long-term”—in the State of Kuwait, based on the decision of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

The ministry added that the meeting focused on overcoming obstacles with the relevant government agencies and finding suitable solutions—“legal, financial, and technical”—to ensure smoother traffic flow in the country.

It was also agreed to submit a final report to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers within six months of the decision’s issuance, detailing the projects and measures taken to address the issue of traffic congestion.
