The Ministry of Interior has confirmed its ongoing efforts to monitor and address ‘fake websites,’ promptly blocking them and taking all necessary legal measures to combat these fraudulent and illegal activities. This is aimed at protecting citizens and residents from falling victim to such scams, according to Al Jarida newspaper.
The General Directorate of Relations and Security Media stated that the Department for Combatting Cybercrime, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, has successfully blocked approximately 392 fake sites involved in fraud, including 52 sites impersonating Al-Durra Company for the Recruitment and Operation of Domestic Workers. Additionally, more than 662 fraudulent Kuwaiti WhatsApp telephone lines have been stopped, with 65 percent of these related to the impersonation of the company.
The ministry urged everyone to only interact with ‘reliable’ sites and entities, and to verify their credibility before making any purchases, using the (My Identity) application, conducting financial transactions, or clicking on links from search engines or advertisements on social media.
It emphasized the importance of checking the site’s name and avoiding sites hosted on platforms like Wix to protect personal information and avoid falling victim to scams and fraud.
