Ministry of Interior arrests citizen for endangering national unity

In a move aimed at protecting national unity and upholding the rule of law, the Ministry of Interior arrested a citizen and handed him over to the Public Prosecution for implementing the arrest warrant issued against him. This action was taken in response to accusations of harming unity and publishing offensive statements against certain tribes and societal groups.

The Council of Ministers emphasized its unequivocal rejection of inciting discord and undermining national unity while commending the Ministry of Interior for its decisive actions to hold accountable individuals who engage in misconduct on social media and other platforms. This reinforces the principle that everyone is subject to the law.

During its meeting, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Al-Sabah, the Council of Ministers expressed its respect for all segments of society and their various components. The council firmly rejected any form of verbal or physical abuse, incitement of discord, or attempts to justify, promote, or incite hatred, discrimination, or division.

Furthermore, the Public Prosecution has decided to detain the citizen referred by the Ministry of Interior until today on charges of violating the National Unity Law and insulting tribes.

The Ministry of Interior handed the citizen over to the Public Prosecution, emphasizing that “it will not tolerate the incitement of sectarian and tribal strife.”

According to a source from Al-Qabas newspaper, the Public Prosecution has initiated an investigation into the citizen referred to it and has charged him with multiple offenses, including insulting tribes and societal components, attempting to destabilize national unity, sow discord, and incite strife. Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

The sources indicated coordination between the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecution regarding matters of national unity. They emphasized receiving higher directives not to tolerate individuals who insult people’s dignity, honor, affiliations, and personal lives.

Harming national unity is a state security crime

An informed source confirmed to Al-Qabas that each person referred in the case of ‘harming national unity’ will face charges classified as a state security crime, as per the law, which mandates punishment for offenders.

He highlighted the coordination between the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecution regarding matters of national unity, emphasizing the issuance of strict directives not to tolerate individuals who cause harm to others.
