Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy generated 33.4% of total non-oil revenues

The ministry’s total revenues during the fiscal year 2023/2024 reached KD 483.608 million, thanks to its diverse debt collection methods.

Government reports revealed that the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy accounted for 33.4% of the total non-oil revenues collected by 35 ministries and government agencies during the fiscal year 2023/2024, as reported by Al Jarida newspaper.

The reports indicated that the ministry’s total revenues amounted to KD 483.608 million. The increase in the ministry’s revenues is attributed to its diverse methods of collecting debts from customers, including customer service offices across various governorates and electronic services through the ministry’s application and website.

The reports indicated that the ministry’s total expenditures for the fiscal year amounted to KD 4.057 billion, compared to the estimated KD 4.113 billion.

The largest portion of the budget, KD 2.9 billion, was spent on goods and services, including oil, gas, and other resources used in operating power and water production stations. Additionally, employee compensation totaled KD 740.51 million, covering salaries, bonuses, and allowances for the fiscal year.

In a related context, Engineer Khadija Mishari, head of the media and awareness team for rationalizing electricity, water, and renewable energy consumption, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to raising awareness about the importance of conserving electricity and water.

She highlighted the establishment of the ‘Wafer’ pavilion in the Avenues as a direct outreach effort. Mishari noted that the ministry aims to connect with customers in various shopping malls to promote better energy and water consumption habits.

She explained that the pavilion located in the Avenues aims to highlight various consumption behaviors and inform consumers about sources of waste. The pavilion features a model of a miniature house where the ministry displays examples of electrical appliances and tools for rationalizing consumption.

Mishari also noted that the pavilion promotes the ‘Hafez’ program for rationalizing consumption, showcasing the number of subscribers and the financial incentives offered through the program.
