Ministry of Electricity begins periodic maintenance of power system

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy will begin periodic maintenance work on Sunday across various components of the electrical system, including generation units, transmission networks, and secondary power transformers, as part of its annual plan to boost efficiency and minimize unexpected outages.

MEW spokesperson Engineer Fatima Hayat explained that while the works are essential to improving the system’s readiness, they may result in temporary power cuts in select areas according to pre-announced schedules.

The maintenance is being carried out under a structured program designed to ensure tasks are completed swiftly and effectively.

Hayat confirmed that customers affected by the planned outages will receive notifications through the government’s “Sahel” application, based on their registered data with the Public Authority for Civil Information.

In addition, the ministry’s official social media accounts will provide direct links for residents to track the status of works in real time, from start to finish.

She stressed that the initiative is part of the ministry’s broader strategy to upgrade networks and enhance service quality, while extending thanks to citizens and residents for their cooperation and understanding of the importance of these efforts.
