The Ministry of Interior in Kuwait has announced a major milestone in its biometric registration campaign.

Approximately 2.5 million Kuwaitis and expatriates have successfully completed the registration process, reports Al-Jarida newspaper.

Major General Eid Al-Awaihan, Director-General of the Criminal Evidence Department, provided an update on the campaign’s progress.

He stated, “Since the launch of the campaign, 2,487,932 individuals have been registered.” However, Al-Awaihan noted that there is still a significant portion of the population yet to complete the process, with approximately 22% of Kuwaitis and 28.5% of expatriates remaining unregistered.

Al-Awaihan emphasized that the biometric registration is being implemented according to a well-structured plan, as directed by Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Minister of Defense.

He expressed gratitude for the cooperation of citizens and residents, which has been instrumental in the success of this important national project.

To ensure that all residents have the opportunity to complete the registration, the Ministry has plans to deploy mobile units equipped with biometric devices.

These units will visit the homes or hospitals of elderly individuals and people with disabilities, provided they can present the necessary disability certificates or birth certificates.

The Ministry has now extended the deadline for biometric registration. Kuwaitis now have until September 30th to complete the process, while expatriates have until December 30th of the current year.

After these deadlines, individuals who have not registered will face suspended transactions, with exceptions made for those with disabilities or the elderly who can provide the required documentation.
